Paper Dolls Challenge...

what number is this?
*giggle*
Can you tell we've all been a little busy...
and kind'a let some challenges pass us by?
I think we've all been through a lot lately...
kids...
family...
work...
remodels...
some life altering events...
we've had some full plates the last few months.
So I'm going to try my best to get us all back on track!
The "experts" say the best way to get some creative juices flowing...
finding your mojo...
is to CASE someone...
so that's exactly what I'm going to challenge everyone to this week.
And my target...
the woman who sees the world through rainbow colored glasses...
whose talent with color combos awe and inspire...
the one...
the only...
Dawn McVey.

So the challenge is to go over to her inspiring blog...
My Favorite Things...
spend some time...
like you don't already ;) ...
and find a card of hers that delights...
inspires...
and then CASE!

Now I chose the card I did because it sold me on this set last month.
It was already on my radar...
bleep...bleep...bleep...
but this card zeroed in on the target...
and BOOM!
Mine.

Why did this card sell me on the set?
Because when you are still making cards on December 23rd...
like someone who shall remain nameless...
*giggle*...
you want something...
quick...
easy...
and what is easier than this?
A CAS one layer card that can be popped into the mail and onto it's destination in minutes...
so that way at least the postmark reads that it was mailed before December 25th...
and in a particular person's world...
that means you're early!
*giggle*

So here's what I did...

I changed the colors just a bit...
because...
not including my musical tastes...
I'm a very traditional kind of girl.
Though in real life...
I'm actually a white light girl...
but white doesn't show up too well on white so...
I went with traditional colored bulbs...
red, green, orange, yellow and blue.
And then I used my fave sentiment from the set...
and in mere minutes...
viola!
That's all it took to create this.
Perfect for those annoying people...
who shall remain nameless...
that wait until the last minute to start working on their Christmas cards.

So show me your best Dawn McVey...
and link up your creation with the linky provided here...

Paper Dolls Challenge #44-An Inspiration Photo

(Edited to add a picture of my project.)

I discovered Pinterest a couple of months ago and I've been hooked ever since.  There are so many beautiful and inspiring pictures as well as great ideas.

My challenge to you is to create a project using this picture that I found at Pinterest as an inspiration.

The colors, the textures, the bling, the distressing all combine to give this picture a soft feminine feel.

Here's my card.

I'd love to see what you create using the photo inspiration as your muse.

Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #43

Hi! This is Kristin and I'm here for the next PTI PaperDolls challenge! We just had a Blog Hop for Laurie W. and *THANK YOU* so much if you hopped along with us or joined in and played. We really were so excited for her! Then, we had SARA featured in this month's PTI Newsletter... can't get any better to be a doll this month (*and I don't want to forget LeeAnne getting her first publication notice too*). Yea!

Okay, back to the challenge people!!

My card here represents something I personally love seeing in *other people's* cards... but find difficult to use myself...newspaper style "paper" (and I don't mean news*print*... I love that stuff... I can easily work with TEXT!).  But take vintage pictures that have a newspaper "appearance" and I don't know how to work with them.

So, even if you have to print them off the internet (gasp... the horror! lol), try to incorporate this look in your card somehow.  Mish, Betsy, and others pull it off with STYLE.  :)  (look there for inspiration)  Fellow forum members also have a great way with this look.

Link your card here- we'd love to have you play along!

Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #42

Hello, everyone!

*giggle*

It's Renee here from ItsAPatchworkLife with the latest Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge...

yeah!!

My first challenge...

EVER!!

Can you tell I'm excited?

Let's just hope it's not my last.

These incredibly talented ladies let me be a part of their group...

I still pinch myself about that...

and sometimes...

they even claim me!

So I'm going to hope I don't mess this one up!

I'm little early...

technically this challenge doesn't start until tomorrow...

but since I'm bound to have problems...

don't ask me how I know...

I wanted people to be awake to help me!

So have you heard the news?

One of our very own Dolls is in the 2011 Gallery Idol competition...

YEAH LAURIE BETH!!!

Can we get a big WHOO-HOO!!!

We've always known she was extremely talented...

seriously this group is full of talent...

but now the rest of the world knows just how talented this Doll is.

And I don't know if this breaks any rules...

hence the "hope it's not my last" comment...

but I thought it only fitting to challenge everyone in a tribute to Laurie!

Here's her card for this week's challenge...

Soapbox Creations
Notice anything?

Besides that it's just stunningly beautiful?

Hhhmmmm....?

Her rolled roses!

Love those roses!

Seriously...

love!

And that's the challenge I'm issuing this week...

make a card using Laurie's gorgeous rolled roses.

I know they are technically not "hers"...

but every time I see them I associate them with her so it's all the same.

At least in my world.

Now...

before you panic because Laurie does use a die to make hers and you don't have a die to make the roses...

never fear!

I am here...

and I just so happen to be a secret super spy!

OK...

not really...

though I really did want to be one...

see here...

but I do happen to have a slight addiction to Pinterest...

so again...

it's all the same.

If you don't happen to have a die to cut the flowers...

you can do this...

Pinterest
Or you can do what I did and punch a circle...

I used a 1 3/4 punch...

and then just started cutting into the circle until I had something that resembled a curly fry!

Then I rolled it around a lolli stick until I had something that resembled a rose.

Here's my tribute to Laurie and her rolled roses...

I also used this weeks Make It Monday technique demonstrated by the uber talented Lisa Johnson...

you can watch the video here.

I made sure to make time for this challenge because it is something I'm about to do on a much larger scale...

see this...

Pinterest
I'm about to do this to my fireplace...

minus the stockings unless it's Christmas!!

So everyone get your punches...

your scissors...

and start cutting some roses!

Challenges are open to everyone...

and can't wait to see what you create!

Oh!  And if you have the time...

you can vote for Laurie here

Paper Dolls Challenge #41

Hey everyone! It's Jen here from Jen's Ink Spot!! I'm a bit late for this challenge, sorry about that!!  (Thanks Michelle for reminding me it was my turn!!).

Well, you all know how much I love to use twine in my projects!  So, I thought a fitting challenge would be to create a card or a project that incorporates twine in some way.  If you don't have twine, you could use floss or something else that is similar...but no ribbons (unless that is ALL you have to choose from!).  Here's my card:

I chose 4 colors of twine and they determined my color combination.

Thank you for stopping by!  I can't wait to see what you create!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Dot Spot, Think Big Favorites
Ink:  Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy, True Black, VersaMagic Turquoise Gem
Paper:  White
Other:  Sunshine Impression Plate, Pop Dots, Twinery Twine

Paper Dolls Challenge #40

Hi, all! It's Deena and it's my turn to host this challenge. I've come up with a simple one. Drumroll please...Use a background stamp! That's it. Easy peasy. I'm hoping that this will encourage those of you who have held back on using your background stamps. Yes, it takes a little practice to get them lined up properly, but once you do, they're a blast to use and they're a great way to make patterned paper that matches your focal point perfectly.

I had fun making this card, and with it being summer, I think it's perfect to give to one of my kids. I love the sun and the sentiment makes me feel so happy.

Card deets: (All supplies Papertrey unless otherwise noted)
Stamps: BB: Retro, FF #4, FF #3 (sentiment), Up, Up and Away
Ink: Pure Poppy, Pumpkin Pie (SU)
Paper: Kraft, Pure Poppy
Other: FF #4 die

Paper Dolls Challenge #39

It's me, Michelle (abzzymom) and it's my turn to host the next Paper Dolls Challenge.

Since Father's Day is less than two weeks away, I thought it would be a great time for you to showcase your wonderful masculine cards.

So, my challenge is sweet and simple:  Make a masculine card.  It can be for any occasion, not just a Father's Day card.

I know this may seem like a really easy challenge, but making masculine cards is something I always struggle with. It's really hard for me not to include any ribbons, flowers, bling, or bright colors.

Here's what I came up with.

I wouldn't have added the buttons to this card since it's supposed to be a masculine card.  However, the frame around the panel turned out crooked on the bottom. By adding the descending button sizes, I'm fooling the eye into thinking the sentiment is straight, even though it's not.

I couldn't resist adding some ribbon. At least it's not a bow!

Come play along with the Dolls and show us your amazing masculine cards. I can't wait to be inspired by you.

Paper Dolls Challenge #38

Hi all!  It's Sara Mac from The Unhurried Life and it's my turn to host the latest Papertrey Paper Dolls challenge.

It's the start of wedding season!  Anyone attending any weddings this summer?  Even if you don't have a wedding to go to you'll probably need lots of anniversary cards on hand for all the weddings you previously attended.

I'm issuing a simple challenge to make either a wedding or an anniversary card!

My husband and I are going to a wedding this Saturday.  I created this card based on the colors of the wedding invitation -- black & white with a splash of aqua.

Hope you find time to play along!  I can't wait to see all the beautiful ideas you come up with.

Paper Dolls Challenge #37

Hi everyone!!

It's Suzanne from The Card Yard, and this week's challenge is a:

Patterned Paper Challenge!

The lovely Renee keeps commenting that she notices how I love to use PP in my projects, so I thought this might be a good chance for everyone to make something using their favorite patterned paper, too. So....I challenge you to make a card using patterned paper everywhere except as the card base!

To get everyone started, here is a card that I made to get things started:

Good luck to everyone! I hope you all can play along with us!

Paper Dolls Challenge #36

Hey everyone! It's Jen here from Jen's Ink Spot!  I get the honor of hosting the Paper Dolls Challenge today!  This challenge is a photo inspiration challenge.

Recently I was at Walmart when I saw a pretty quilt with colors that just called my name!  The price was right so I purchased it.  The packaging from that quilt is where this photo came from.  You can interpret it anyway you like.  If you find inspiration in the colors or the design or anything else, feel free to take it and run with it!

And here is my sample card:

I used the colors and the shape of the quilt pieces as my inspiration for the main backdrop.  The twine is added for the "homespun" feeling it gives.

I also stamped patterns on each shape to mimic the ones in the quilt and added the Tin Types impression plate on the white background to mimic the "quilted" look as well.

I hope you are able to play along!  Everyone is invited to participate!  Simple add your link to the Inlinkz form below!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Tiny Tags, Giga Guidelines, Retro Background, Bitty Background Basics, Dot Spot
Ink:  Versamark, Pure Poppy, Black
Paper:  Hawaiian Shores, Pure Poppy, Harvest Gold, Simply Chartreuse
Other:  Twinery Twine, Tiny Tags Die, Pop Dots

Paper Dolls Challenge #35

So, is anyone feeling scrappy? Not like scrapbooking, but scrappy as in USE THOSE SCRAPS!

My challenge for you this go around is to dig in to your scraps and make a card using ONLY scraps. You are allowed to cut one piece of paper, if necessary, for your card base, but other than that, no cutting into a new piece of paper. I made a few cards, but due to 'technical difficulties' I was only able to get a picture of this beauty that I'm saving for my daughter's 8th birthday in June. I'm absolutely thrilled with how it came out!

{MAKE A WISH}
All supplies are PTI unless noted
Stamps: Cupcake Collection, Mat Stack 4 Collection, Polka Dot Basics II
Paper: Sweet Blush, Stampers Select, Doodlebug Lily White Sugar Coated Cardstock
Ink: Sweet Blush, Dark Chocolate
Accessories: Mat Stack 4 Die, Cupcake Collection Dies, Edgers #1 Die, Dimensionals, Bling (from clearance at Office Max)

Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #34

Hello Everyone!

I find myself so overwhelmed with gratitude lately. For my family's health and safety and for dear friends near and far in light of recent events in our world and right here at home on the Papertrey message board. A dear member of our team here suffered a tremendous loss recently and I was blown away by the love and support that were rallied immediately by the "Dolls", as I affectionately call our blog group, and those on the PTI Message Board. It is for this that I am truly grateful...to think we can develop such wonderful friendships with people we have never physically met. It is truly awesome! PTI has brought together a wonderful group of women and Ted. I am proud and grateful to know all of you!

So, this Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge is all about gratitude. I challenge all of you to make a card, scrapbook page or other project about GRATITUDE. Keep it simple (if you can) and use a background stamp (if you have one...or make one with other stamps from PTI). That's it...gratitude, simple, background stamp. Here is my project below and I look forward to seeing all of your amazing projects!

Remember to join in the challenge and post your project using the InLinkz tools below! For more information about this card feel free to visit my blog Trade Fish Designs.

Have a wonderful day!

Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #31: Year of the Flowers

Hi!  Laurie from Hiding in My Craft Room here!  I am so excited!  This is my first time to host the challenge and I hope you find it a good one!

Okay, so here goes!  The challenge is:

1.  Use a flower set, if you have it Papertrey Ink, Year of the Flowers set.
2.  Use a designer paper.  If you don't have any, make your own.  I actually used SU designer paper Real Red and stamped using the flower images.  But I could have just stamped on plain paper and it would have been pretty too!
3.  Use at least three different colors.

Here's what I came up with:

You can see more details about my card here:  Violet Birthday

Thanks for checking in today!

Now it's your turn!  Have fun!

Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #29

Hello Everyone,

The start of a new year comes a new series of Papertrey Paper Doll Challenges. I am the first host of the new year and I am excited to kick it off. I have to admit that I am still not back to my regular routine after the holidays. As a result, I decided that this Challenge would be based on a theme. The theme I have chosen is simplicity. This card is all about keeping it simple. I look forward to seeing what each of you create while trying to keep it simple.

For more photos and a supply list visit MY BLOG.
